Judge declares South Park free of copyright infringement. Butter’s What What in the Butt video, borrowed from YouTube faced a copyright infringement lawsuit that ended in favor of South Park earlier this week. Plaintiffs are expected to pay What What in the Butt to the tune of $30,000 in attorney fees.
What makes this lawsuit decision so funny? Let me tell you. South Park is one of the most attacked shows on the air. They are constantly having to face some idiot or group of idiots that feel harmed by South Park satire. Therefore, it should be common logic that would assure anyone that South Park will make sure that all laws are obeyed with every t crossed and every i dotted.
So what exactly does this mean? That one’s simple, if you put a stupid video on YouTube and it just happens to go viral you are not, I repeat are not owed anything. That YouTube video is in fact a product of fair use. In actuality, you should be thankful that South Park gave fame to your poorly done, low budget resemblance of a video.
I know to all of us intelligent people out there this seems silly and certainly seems like mere common sense though sadly some poor misguided souls that suffer from idiocy lack common sense. For those unfortunate souls, there only assurance is frivolous lawsuits that take up the time of others. Our only consolation is the entertainment of their actions. I will be waiting patiently for the next South Park episode making fun of this stupid lawsuit, I’m certain it’ll be in my future.
