If you read the last post on the best clips from South Park’s awesome Season 11, then you already know that we talked about the episode, “Lice Capades.” So this time – and in the tradition of South Park’s comedic flare – we are going to focus on something truly offensive to millions of people around the world: Catholicism. The show loves poking fun at all religions, and typically – as we saw in the episode called, “All About Mormons” – they will flash a bright sign stating that this is actually what – pick your religion – believes. This episode varied in the sense that they bashed Catholics to the fullest extent, but refrained from an onscreen banner augmenting their roasting.
South Park Mocks Catholicism
The episode, “Rabbit Stew” featured one Randy Marsh and his inklings for the love of painting eggs on the Hallmark version of the holiday Easter. Unlike what the church believed, Randy actually followed the teachings of a certain cult that portrays the holiday and the religion of Catholicism as perverse. Rather, they believe that a bunny was appointed pope by Jesus and that was done to shut up leaders of religions so that there would be no more wars in the name of God. If you think about—sadly this actually makes far too much sense.
The Hair Club for Men: Hilarious!
When Stan is asking far too many questions about the Easter holiday and why they must paint eggs during it, Randy (his dad) gets irate. Stan decides that if he can’t find out why from his father he will ask the Easter Bunny at the South Park Mall. Of course, when he digs too deep he finds himself being tailed by several Easter Bunnies on his way home. When they are finally about to nab him, his dad comes to the rescue, also dressed like an Easter Bunny. Randy informs Stan that he belongs to a secret order of Jesus called, “The Hair Club for Men.”
Watch Best Clip #4 From Season 11: “Rabbit Stew”
Towards the end of this really funny episode we came across our favorite clip, “Rabbit Stew.” In this clip, the Catholics have captured Jesus and Kyle and have them in a holding cell underneath the Vatican. When Jesus tells Kyle that he must kill him so he can use his power of resurrection to appear outside of the Vatican walls and stop the evil pope, and reinstate order in the Church, Kyle has his doubts…but he ultimately stabs Jesus in the neck!
