If you ever thought about one of the most memorable episodes from the eighth season of South Park, if you ask me, it would easily be “Quest for Ratings.” An episode that pokes fun at race, popular culture and drug abuse. All wrapped up nicely under the disguise of a school news team that is formed when the boys have to come with a show idea for their theatre technical class, even though they are only eight years old!
Why Season 8 Rocked!
Season 8 of South Park had many offerings for all. From the awesome episode “Fun with Weapons,” where Butters gets a ninja star hocked in his head by Kenny, to the episode, “Woodland Critter Christmas,” where satanically possessed furry woodland critters are responsible for birthing the antichrist. Season 8 of South Park firmly cemented the show in a place that is both dear to our hearts and one that states loudly: “South Park is here to stay and here to stay forever.” As only shows that make it past the illustrious 8th season can so adamantly proclaim to the masses.
Sexy Action School News?
What is Sexy Action School News? It is the news group that Kyle, Stan, Cartman, Jimmy, Butters and Token form for a theatre tech class. But when Craig thwarts their ratings by making videos of cute animals wearing hats, it means war, or failing the class and dying trying. The best part about this episode is the fake news hair that all the boys wear, and of course, when Token learns to talk like a black man who is trying to sound like a white man when on the news!
Hilarious Clip of the Boys Tripping on Cough Syrup
In the clip below, which is classically entitled, “Do you feel Bowling Ballish,” the boys have decided that they need to get more creative than they are naturally. So they head to the local pharmacy and pick up several bottles of cough syrup and take far more than the recommended dosages so they can hallucinate. Once the main ingredients kick in, they all get their notepads ready so they can take some notes and figure out what to do next on their show so they can beat out Craig’s show for ratings, in a true, “Quest for Ratings!”
